May 6, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

ALA Tobacco Use Webinar 05 06 22 Dr. Phoenix Matthews

The American Lung Association has recently released a new Addressing Tobacco Use in Black Communities Toolkit to educate and build confidence among public health professionals and community-based individuals in developing meaningful, equitable engagement with Black people and lead sustainable tobacco control and cessation programs to improve health equity. The American Lung Association will host a 1-hour live webcast via Zoom for community partners in Chicago to present the crucial information, key strategies and a variety of culturally competent resources, trainings, videos, and other relevant materials provided within this toolkit. The goal of the program is to further build competence among Chicago’s public health professionals by:
• Educating about the racist history of tobacco in Black communities;
• Encouraging connectedness by learning how to be an authentic ally and building better community partnerships; and
• Building confidence for leaders to act with the help of materials, resources, and trainings.
