Abstract:
In this talk we will present two examples of using deep neural networks for biomedical studies. In the first example, we developed a new nonlinear dimensionality reduction method based on bottleneck deep autoencoders. The method is designed to extract interpretable, monotone components and have reconstruction errors evaluable in the original data space. In the second example, we sought to optimize three major types of convolutional neural network-based cell segmentation models to achieve human level performance on immunofluorescence images of fresh frozen tissue slides with densely packed immune cells.
The meeting agenda includes a presentation, programmatic announcements, and updates from Cancer Center program leaders.
This group meets once a month from Noon – 1 p.m.
