Dr. Xiaoli Zhang is a computational biologist interested in biomarker discoveries for cancer diagnosis and treatment. She graduated from Iowa State University with a PhD in Molecular Biology and a MS in statistics. Thereafter, she joined the Center for Biostatistics/Department of Biomedical Informatics at the Ohio State University to start biomedical research, first as a Research Scientist, then a Research Assistant Professor, and soon an Associate Professor-clinical track. Her research interest is in understanding the mechanisms of cancer tumorigenesis, metastasis and drug resistance through studying cancer metabolic reprogramming, cancer immunology, tumor microenvironment, and cancer stem cells, to identify prognostic and therapeutic targets for cancer treatment using computational biology approaches in combination with laboratory validations. With her expertise in biostatistics and bioinformatics, she has collaborated extensively with medical center investigators to advance interdisciplinary biomedical science, especially cancer research.
Meeting agenda includes a presentation, programmatic announcements, and updates from University of Illinois Cancer Center program leaders. This group meets on the second Thursday of every month from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
