Dr. Ajay Rana is an Endowed Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. His research is focused on cancer biology, with specific training and expertise in signal transduction and anti-neoplastic drugs resistance.
He has a broad background in Cancer Biology, with specific training and expertise in signal transduction and anti-neoplastic drugs resistance. Since his post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School in Dr. Joseph AvruchGÇÖs laboratory, he has continued working on a novel family of kinases, called Mixed Lineage Kinases (MLKs). The MLK family members are unique in the sense that the kinase domain contains the signature sequences for both, Ser/Thr and Tyr kinases.
