Dr. Basabi Rana is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Medicine. Her research is focused on signal transduction and transcriptional regulation of growth/survival in cancer. Since completing her post-doctoral training at Boston University School of Medicine, she has continued her studies on the role of Wnt/-catenin signaling in liver cancer and its potential crosstalk with the PPAR family of transcription factors. During the course of her career, she has successfully administered different funded projects (personnel, budget), mentored postdoctoral researchers, and produced high-quality publications from each. Dr. Rana is a collaborative researcher, having established strong working and productive collaborations with basic and clinician-scientists. Her current research is focused on understanding the signaling pathways that mediate progression and therapy resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma and other gastrointestinal cancers.
