Dr. Ian Papautsky is the Richard and Loan Hill Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and is Co-Director of the NSF I/UCRC Center for Advanced Design & Manufacturing of Integrated Microfluidics (CADMIM). His research is focused on innovating microfluidic and sensing technologies for hematology, oncology, and precision medicine. His lab has pioneered the inertial microfluidics technology for label-free isolation and analysis of rare cells, such as circulating tumor cells (CTCs), or cellular sub-populations, such as white blood cells. This microfluidics approach shows tremendous potential for high-throughput cell sorting in hematology and liquid biopsy applications.
