Dr. Kostandin Pajcini is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. His research focuses on bringing together the highly conserved cell-cell signaling mechanisms to the study of hematopoietic development and disorders.
The key area of Dr. PajciniGÇÖs study is the role of Notch signaling in the interactions of hematopoietic stem cells with the fetal liver and adult bone marrow niches, because aberrant Notch signaling leads to T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). In his independent research program, they are focusing on how to specifically target hyperactive Notch mutations in T-ALL by identifying novel gene targets and by directly targeting the Notch receptor mutations though gene editing.
His research is focused on immunology, berrant Notch signaling (specifically in T-cell lymphoblastic leukemia) and mammalian muscle regeneration
