Research in Dr. Petukhov laboratory is focused on (1) the discovery, computational design, synthesis, and preclinical studies of novel small molecule compounds as therapeutics for a variety of diseases and conditions and (2) development of novel chemical tools and approaches to study epigenetic “erasers” histone deacetylases (HDACs). Current projects focus on discovery of novel small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of schistosomiasis (TGR, HDAC8), acute myeloid leukemia (HDAC8), chronic hepatitis B virus infections (HDAC5), and migraine (HDAC6).
